TAAG accepts that the passengers described above travel alone but, in case they declare their autonomy, does not guarantee any assistance on board such as in restrooms, lifting up, loading or feeding the passengers. If the passenger wants to travel with his/her own wheelchair, there is a requirement for previous warning that should also inform about the type of chair and battery.

Blind passengers

• Blind passengers should inform TAAG of their condition at the time of booking, even if traveling with their guide dog. Special assistance will be provided during boarding.

Medical cases

• All sick passengers that require special assistance on board are medical cases – MEDA. As a rule, a medical case occurs when a passenger has a clinical situation, becoming dependent upon others and/or personalized assistance. To communicate the existence of a medical case to the company, beyond the booking, a document – MEDIF – where the diagnosis is described should always be filled out by the passenger’s doctor for later assessment by the company’s medical services. Whenever a passenger travels in medical case with a gurney, a doctor or nurse must accompany him/her, preferably traveling in the same class. The reservation should include the details concerning the ambulance on the stairs at departure/arrival (origin and destination hospitals). It is required that the contact of the passenger or company in the place of boarding is present in the reservation. This feature only exists in economy class.
• Whenever the administration of oxygen is necessary, the passenger must travel accompanied by someone who knows how to administer it, preferably a doctor or nurse. The passenger may transport the supplemental medical oxygen as long as the regulations present in the equipment’s respective medical form are complied with. This should be delivered for inspection by the maintenance services 48 hours before the start of the flight and requires approval by TAAG’s Maintenance services and respective medical services. The administration of oxygen by the crew is not allowed.
• Should a passenger have a broken bone or bones in the lower limbs, causing their immobilization and requiring space for the legs; an extra seat may be added in order to support the broken limb during the flight. The extra seats may also be used to carry fragile and large-sized luggage and musical instruments or as diplomatic courier case.
