Lekki Conservation Centre is one of the most well-known African natural parks. Come and visit a nature and serenity oasis, in the vibrant and intense city of Lagos!

Being the largest Nigerian city, and the second largest city on the African continent, Lagos is an intense, vibrant urban centre. If you feel the need to breathe fresh air and be in communion with nature, Lekki Conservation Centre is the place to visit.

The 78-hectare Centre, located on the Lekki peninsula, was created in 1990 by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) for the preservation of local biodiversity and environmental education, as opposed to the rapid urban growth of the city of Lagos.

It is a reference for the natural and wildlife protection in the African southwestern coast, today considered as one of the most modern natural parks in Africa, well-known for fauna and flora diversity.

Inside Lekki Conservation Centre, you have a lot to discover. Visit the Tree House, Nature Station, Bird Hide, ponds, barbecue joints, beach volleyball courts and gym facilities.

We highlight a picturesque bridge of 401 meters, over the treetops. A passage built in 2015, which is not decidedly for those who are afraid of heights. Take the challenge and dare the adventure! (If it is raining, it is not possible to cross the bridge and only visitors between the ages of 14 and 65 are allowed to cross.)

SEE A GIANT TURTLE AND OTHER ANIMALS

One of the main attractions of the Conservation Centre is a giant, 95-year-old turtle. How about taking a selfie, very slowly, with this slow pace and fantastic animal? But there is more. In the Centre, if you are lucky enough to find them, you can watch monkeys, peacocks, crocodiles or snakes.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The best time to visit the Conservation Centre is between October and March, in the dry season, to avoid the rains.

In Lagos, and to get to the Centre, you can take a taxi anywhere in the city. If you prefer public transport, take a bus to Obalende or CMS Park. At one of these locations, take a bus to Lekki / Ajah and get off at Chevron to walk to the Centre.
