During Carnival, the streets of Lubango are filled with colour, music and dancing.

Lubango’s altitude seems to result in high spirits during Carnival. Throughout the holiday, the streets if the capital of the Huíla province are filled with parades of masked individuals and people wearing tribal garments. The is a lot of traditional music and dancing, and the locals gladly join in!

Carnival usually takes place at the end of February or early March, according to the Catholic. Parades usually take place at the João Paulo II Square and other streets in Lubango’s city centre.
